What are the registers of the Registration Offices?

The registers of the Registration Offices were used to formalize a wide range of civil and notarial acts by recording them with the tax authorities.

They included marriage contracts, wills, and donations, as well as property sales, leases, and declarations of succession. Each entry generally recorded the identities of the parties involved, the date and nature of the act, the value of the property or rights concerned, and the duties paid to the administration.

The purpose was not limited to tax collection. Registration conferred a legally recognized date on the act and ensured its official publicity, thereby strengthening the legal security of transactions. For this reason, these records have become valuable sources for studying the transmission of property and genealogy.
